Positive Futures Group (PFG) was founded in November 2004 by Dupe Makinde, an accountant by profession, who has a passion, or some might refer to it as her calling, to help vulnerable children and young people. One of her first assignments was a hugely successful fact-finding mission to Nigeria in January 2005.when she visited orphanages and schools in the western region of Nigeria where her vision for our charity was conceived.
She returned home with her mind set on founding Positive Futures Group and through the generous support of a small number of sponsors, GGF launched a programme of sponsorship for children in September that year.
Support included: paying tuition fees for the year, paying for all school supplies (books; stationery; school uniform), regular medical care, mentoring and providing a cooked meal a day for each child. As more kind-hearted people give towards the work of the charity, more needy children will be reached.
Our goal is for this programme to be extended to other African countries in the coming years. The programme for the United Kingdom is to encourage young people to create positive, attention-grabbing futures, challenging and motivating them to believe in themselves, to aim high in school/college, work or leisure, to develop social skills, and to manage adolescence and choose healthier lifestyles.
